Description
Colorized photo from 1863
Original title: Engine No. 133, U.S. Military R.R
Photographer: Mathew Brady
Location: City Point, VA
The original had some "problems" with the sky. I think there were spots on the negative and they tried to clone it out, so the print would come out clean? In any case it looked horrible.
I chose colors that I thought fit best for this engine, but also used a color from black and white guide someone made using civil war era tech. As far as I'm concerned the colors are correct and if they aren't, then they should be. There wasn't any info I could find for this machine, not sure why they photographed. It seemed to be gussied up though. Ribbons were tied and it was covered in potted plants?
Maybe they just opened that neat looking fort, and wanted to show out their newly pimped out locomotive. We may never know. I was hoping to find info out on the base, but there are just too many forts in that state.
