Often when making these, there are no colors for the engine, but I got lucky on these. The one in the back, the William Crooks, is in a museum, I'm not convinced the center barrel area is that aqua color, but that's what the museum showed. It can be a light blue, but never that color, but why would the museum lie? For the most part is a brown engine with a lot of stripes.
The one in the front, the Oriental Limited, it had either an all grey body, or a green body. Most of the pictures, toys etc, were all green. And it would make sense, if the car on the side is made by the same company, then maybe its a green theme they use (more modern cars also have a green color).
The original image didn't say the location, but according to a newspaper article it could have been Chicago or any number of places. This group of trains toured an area served by Greater Northern. I was able to confirm this is Chicago by finding the address to the Crane Co in the background. That building still exists in Chicago, but its been turned into apartments. From there, I triangulated the angle from the view of where it should be and where the tracks are today. There is a building a little bit at the end of the yellow cab, that one is still standing, confirming the location. So yay me. Not that it matters that much, the rest are gone.
I was going to add a headlight to the train in back, but I wasn't sure if that circle was a headlight or a number plate. So I left it out, it would have attracted attention anyway.
