This is a Union Pacific M-10000 train, which just so happens to look like a hot dog. It had a Winton 191 distillate engine.
It's a diesel powered train and was considered a concept idea back in its day. It was created during the depression, and was a symbol of how life could be in the future. It was the first Streamliner, it toured the US in a 13,000 mile run.
The train had a turret cab, an inward-slanting Duralumin body (it was a type of aluminum). The nose was formed as a parabolic arch, and it has a huge grill for a lot of air intake. The horns were set perfectly at ear level, to be certain you would spill your coffee or wet your pants when it went off.
