Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1913, Jan 8
Original Title: Elerfeld-barmen road
Location: Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia
Imagine your a hundred or so years ago, you look up, and a train, flies over your head. Almost surreal, this is the future, a train that doesn't travel on the ground.
This train was designed by Eugene Langen, sold to Berlin back in 1901. While there were still trolley's on the ground, this electric elevated train "flew" over the Wupper river that was there. At the time it really showed a certain kind of ingenuity and technology they had back then.
Looking back on this, you might wonder what its like to ride on it. Well, if you go to Germany right now, you can find out. This train is still in operation, that very station is totally intact as well. The system worked so well, that they are still using it. The town looks totally different though, WWII took care of that. And they had to rebuild the rail as well after that.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
