Original title: Motor car, Canadian Government Colonization Co.
Photographer: Detroit Publishing
Location: Either Canada or London
With a steampunk origin, this is a Gas-Electric hybrid built by the Commercial Motor Vehicle Co of Windsor Ontario. Each wheel had an electric motor, it was 20ft long and had an 81in track. The four cylinder engine produced 20 HP. The truck was sent to England to visit "every town and village in the country". But because it was so under powered, it never made it out of London, and is presumably left in England.
The Canadian Pacific Railway and parts of Canada financed this. It's probably why it looks a bit like a train and has pinstriping everywhere. The railway won this bet, as they got money from ticket sales for their trains and steamships. The people however didn't know how to farm and mostly failed.
I got the details for this thing from another site, and they got it from some trucking...
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
