Location: Jerusalem, Israel
Its hard to find the sheep in this, but I suppose that in real life, that is the point.
I looked up the type of stone they have there, and it varies from light to dark browns, some reds, in other words, it looks like rock. I do believe there is some grass on the trail, this is near a bit of water, and they look like they are eating something. Grass adds a little more color.
The original sky was boring to use, and I find its hard to colorize sky with clouds in it, so that was replaced by something more dramatic. The steep shadow angle, combined with the low light in the sky by that hill, suggests sunset. Plus it was probably easier to move them in the evening when it was cooler.
