I'm not totally certain why they took this picture. I can only assume that its a life around here type of shot. The title simply says its under the tracks, but that's hardly historically significant, it doesn't mention the candy store at all. Luckily I was able to find some kind of history for it.
I liked the photo myself because it was a slice of life kind of picture. Showing what looks like a spring day, with people enjoying the weather in their new clothes. Streetcars were still in use and there is a car in there as well.
This corner still exists, but the building and how the structure is made does not match. No matter what angle I sat at on google maps, I couldn't find this exact angle, pretty sure they widened it or something.
I can't find the reason why they took this picture, since it seems to be more about the track overhead than anything else. Luckily I was able to find a little info on that place on the corner. I liked it because it shows a slice of life in the area, the local transportation, and fashion choices.
