Back in both world wars, men were recruited to fight in the war, this left many factories without workers. So they would hire to fill their places. This school taught them the so they can do that very thing. It would make sense to train them to be s because with that skill they could probably get a job almost anywhere. But mostly they were trained how to make parts for the war.
Sadly when the guys came back, the ladies had to leave, but that's what it was like then.
From a safety standpoint, I wonder how those dresses didn't get caught in a machine. Many of them seem very loose.
