I thought everything is listed on the internet but I couldn't find any info about why they would make a solid cowcatcher. I assume things got caught in the slots, because they don't really add to its looks all that much.
I also couldn't find out any info about where this roundhouse was located. There is a look out where it might have been, but I'm sure it was torn down years ago. It's hard to say if they fired these engines up just to get a photo, or if they were simply there and the photographer took advantage of the moment.
I don't know what those white things are by the third one, they look like snowballs. But there is no other snow, if that was the case, maybe those things pushed snow off the tracks.
