Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1906
Original Title: Petticoat Lane, Kansas City, Mo.
Location: The corner of 11th and Main, Looking towards Walnut as a cross street ahead, Kansas City, Missouri
Located on 11th street, between Main and Grand, this street was known as Petticoat lane. Lots of high priced stores, Dentists, Candy shops in this area. It was such a popular location that people had to walk on the street because there was little space left on the sidewalk. Large department stores opened here and remained for a long time.
Today, this area is commercial, and all the buildings you see here, are gone . The longest lasting building was the Emery Bird Thayer building which sold dry goods (clothing).
If your wondering what Vitalized Air is (on the dental sign), its a mixture of Sleeping gas and Chloroform.
About Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
