This is the town of Mogollon, New Mexico, they dug gold from quartz mines. It was very popular from the mid to late 1800's to about 1940. This shot was taken before it really started to decline.
For a small town, they sure have a lot of gas stations, this one road is not that long and there was at least two stations. And each one had several pumps. This one couldn't even make up their mind which one to sell.
Anyway, I kept the buildings earth tones for the most part, the color is similar to what is there now. This building still exists though its been cleaned up and added onto. Interestingly, they still have one of the old pumps, I made the pump without the globe the same color as the one they have now.
There is also a weird assortment of metals used on that shed, some had a wallpaper like pattern.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...

Love that you took old photos and actually researched as best you could for information, making them all the more precious to behold. Love that you added color, now I don't have to imagine in my minds eye. One of the interesting things in this photograph is the small child, barely noticeable walking completely by herself with no parent in sight. Really a totally different time.

Love all these Mike. Your color adds such a wonderful dimension. Brings everything alive. You are probably familiar with the output of the Detroit Post Card Co. and their work with chromo lithography.
