I loved the look of this scene, it had a magical quality to it, and I wanted to make it even more magical in the final piece. The clouds were distracting and I wasn't sure how they were supposed to be colored in, its actually easier to add clouds then to deal with what I had. It was clearly sunny enough to support shadows. And those shadows were deep enough to cast long shadows. So I made it a sunset/rise theme.
Despite being over a 100 years old, it had an astonishingly large amount of detail. You can see poles to the very back. The whites of their eyes, just everything. The original was stitched with 3 images.
