Fox hunting started in England in the sixteenth century, though it was banned in Feb 2005, more or less across the world. They felt terrorizing a fox just wasn't very nice and there were better ways to remove them. And it really never stopped, some still do it.
But while it was an active sport, it was steeped in tradition and those red uniforms. If you never heard of fox hunting, its basically simple. You start with a pile of dogs that look for and chase the fox.
Then the game is on, everyone gets on a horse and starts running to where they hear the sound, jumping over walls and otherwise showing everyone what their tricked out horse can do.
And then they would either kill the poor little fox, or let it go. In which the critter will have night terrors for the rest of its life and probably will have to seek professional help.
