The disadvantage of homesteading is that you have to do everything yourself. From building your home, to hunting, planting a garden etc. But you'll know the food is fresh, and you'll know where the food came from.
If you have a large family they can share in the chores, and at the end, they can share in the rewards such as eating all the fine cooking you see here. This set up must be for a party however, certainly a lot of desert. We can assume the turkey is in the oven.
