Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1889
Original title: Interior of Gallery of Machines, Paris Exposition
Photographer: Unknown
Location: Grenelle District, Paris, France
How I wish I could go back in time to see these things myself, but alas, I can't, those things are too expensive.
Anyway, this is the machine gallery at the Worlds fair in Paris 1889. It was contained in a huge building, as explained it could hold over 15,000 horses, and still have room for more horses. They had all sorts of machinery here, this particular area had just machine tools. Overhead, on those triangular rails they had a sort of rolling platform that moved over the length of each wing.
There are some people hidden about, but you can get a sense of scale of these machines. I liked the velvet rope, as if that would stop wayward hands.
I chose colors based on french made machines, which seemed to be brighter than American made. I made them all different colors so you can see...
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
