Artist's Description

Colorized photo from 1916
Original title: A US munitions plant
Photographer: National Photo Company
Location: Unknown

The kids of today may not understand this, because factories are made up using a robot staff, and they can print parts in their own bedroom. In the past, people made things with their hands. No fancy parts, just tools, and their own skills.

This factory made munitions for World War I, you see mostly hand tools and a few lathes. Everything is crafted by hand one piece at a time, like it should be. You don't see automation here, just hundreds of humans.

They seem to have a dress code, most of the people have a bow tie, everyone wears an apron, except for that one guy on the lathe, that's just asking for trouble when his sleeve catches. The lighting was pretty close to the benches in those days, presumable they wattage was really low.

About Mike Savad

Mike Savad

My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
