Artist's Description
Colorized photo from 1918
Original Title: Crandall's Theater
Photographer: The National Photo Co
Location: 9th and E streets NW, Washington DC
There were just scraps of info about this building, considering what that sign looks like, you would wonder why there were no postcards. But I couldn't find anything about the colors of this place. But judging by the lights and that weird sign, I chose a bright colorful look, that has a bit of elegance.
It seems there were a lot of people just standing around. Everyone walking has the ghost look, which I kept to show movement was there. I can only assume that the light was partly cloudy and it was a longer than normal shutter speed.
That thing on the lower left is a fire box, they still have them around Washington, but the box is gone usually. So they sort of look hollow there, like it was a harp.
About Mike Savad
My name is Mike Savad, I create one of a kind images. Photo realistic, is what people think of first. I specialize in job themes, such as Pharmacist, Doctor, Firemen, Lawyer, etc. Steampunk is another favorite. I'm certain you will find something that you will like. My art is inspired by Norman Rockwell and Paintings from the time of the Renaissance. Be sure to visit my Scene in Color section. I expertly restore and colorize black and white images. See the past come alive with color. Each image is painstakingly cleaned and repaired, colors are researched and shaded in. Images are designed to coordinate with the rest of my collection. The past was far more colorful than you would have imagined. Want something fun to do? Sometimes I hide...
