Chicken pot pie is basically soup held with a crust. It's served as dinner as a main dish, its not so good as a dessert. Chicken pot pie is sort of a feel good food, it has a country feel and a home feel.

On the other hand Pot pie is totally different. Traditionally, that is smoked and when you get the munchies, that's when you can ea the chicken version.
