Description
Colorized photo from 1913, Jan 8
Original Title: Elerfeld-barmen road
Location: Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia
When I first saw this photo, it was a real marvel of ingenuity and it had that futuristic look an old world's fair might have. What it must have been like though, to be in a train that hung over a river. Its too bad this stuff doesn't exist any more... but wait, it does actually. This very train and station still does exist, and they use it daily.
This area was hit in WWII, so many of the houses do not exist, only one house, and that church are the only original structures.
This is the original coloring of the train, the track might have all been one color, but I chose it how it looks today. I wanted the look of a train coming in, something that came from the future, but passing by colorful houses in a small village. That's why they are so colorful, that and German houses are colorful and many have red roofs.
The shadows were deep, so this was probably late in the day, I used a pink sunset to help push the colors that were there already.
