This was one of those images that took a lot longer than I was expecting it to take, and I was expecting it would take a while. It took 2 days just to clean the image. This image is interesting, normally you don't see cut lines, the entire lower center deck is spliced in there. There is a seam running down under the railing and up the stairs. There is a sort of line near the roof area across the top.
And the people, are drawn in. I've worked with this company's images for a while and you almost never see it. And yet, set up almost as a conceptual image, they are painted in there. You can see course brush strokes, an attempt at cloning someone near a light post. And there was a color postcard, so I can only assume they made this for the arcade and it couldn't look devoid of people. Long exposures will create ghosts, which makes it look empty.
So it took me a while to sort of smear it back together so it didn't look too bad up close, but you won't see faces. I had to rebuild arms and hats, where there were just blobs before.
Color wise, I had the original postcard and the building still exists. It just took a while because of all the woodwork, railing, and details. And all those reflections, every window had reflections.
This building still exists today, there are less stores, mostly on the first few floors, a hotel moved into it. They renovated it, and it actually looks older that it does in this picture.
