The original was really washed out, a bit over exposed, I think they did it to expose for the shadows, but there was still enough detail to work from. The exposure was long enough to make everyone into a ghost, pairs of people were nullified this way, I kept them in, even though they are dark smudges. You can see a pair of them as a reflection, so that's kind of weird that it didn't blur.
I love the details in this image, there is a corset shop, you don't see that almost ever in these kinds of pictures. There is a man staring out the window in the mantle shop, a milk bottle on a sill, along with window sill flowers. There is a restaurant and candy store.
The New Amsterdam theater, was built in 1903, and was pretty tall on this block, today its a teeny tiny building surrounded by huge buildings, but still in use as a Broadway theater, even though it had to be saved by another company. That church is long gone, closed in 1912, because the people moved away thanks to Times Square pushing out residents to make commercial properties.
Wished they kept the ornate parts on the building, but if they didn't, it would have probably have fallen off sooner or later.
